Dear Southern Boone School District Families,
As we transition back to our regular routines following an extended winter break due to winter weather, I want to take a moment to thank you for your patience and understanding during the five consecutive snow days last week. We recognize the challenges that unexpected schedule changes can create for many families, and we appreciate your flexibility and support.
Due to last week’s winter weather, the school district has used the six traditional snow days built into the 2024-2025 district calendar. Moving forward, if further closures become necessary due to inclement weather, the district has up to five Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) or virtual learning days available for use this school year. More information is available below in this newsletter or can be found at sbschools.us/ami.
Our teachers and staff are excited for a successful second half of the school year and are committed to providing the best possible education for our students. Thank you for your continued partnership and understanding as we work together to support our students' learning and well-being, no matter the weather.
Yours in Education,
Dr. Tim Roth
School Superintendent
AMI/Virtual Learning Days Update
The Southern Boone School District would like to provide an update regarding plans for the remainder of winter if inclement weather causes the school district to close. All traditional snow days included in the 2024-2025 district calendar have been utilized due to winter weather in January.
To ensure uninterrupted learning, the district has five Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) or Virtual Learning Days available for this school year. Moving forward, any additional days when school cannot be held due to inclement weather will be designated as AMI/Virtual Learning Days for students and staff. Using AMI days allows us to maintain our instructional schedule without requiring make-up days during already scheduled breaks or extending the school year.
Each school building will provide specific details about AMI Days. If you have questions related to AMI/Virtual Learning Days, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or building principal. For general inquiries, feel free to email us at communications@sbschools.us.
Information about inclement weather communication and procedures is available at sbschools.us/weather.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate the rest of the winter season.
