A Message

Dear Southern Boone School District Families,

Tonight is an exciting evening at Southern Boone High School as we celebrate our annual Courtwarming basketball game and ceremony! This event is always a great opportunity for our community to come together and support our teams, cheerleaders and high school band. We truly appreciate everyone's school spirit that makes Southern Boone such a special place. More details about the event are included in this e-newsletter, and we hope to see you there this evening!

Additionally, we encourage you to review the proposed district calendar for the 2025-2026 school year, which is included in this e-newsletter. Your input is always appreciated as we plan for the future.

Finally, I also want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the ongoing support from our parents and community. A strong school district is built on the foundation of a supportive and engaged community, and we are incredibly fortunate to have families who care deeply about the success of our students and staff. Your encouragement, involvement and partnership make a meaningful difference in the educational experience we provide. Whether you are cheering on our students at events, volunteering in our schools, or simply supporting the work being done each day in our classrooms, your role is invaluable. We appreciate you being an essential part of the Southern Boone family.

Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff and schools!

Yours in Education,

Dr. Tim Roth
School Superintendent

Proposed 2025-2026 District Calendar

The Southern Boone School District has been working on the calendar for the 2025-2026 school year. The district’s calendar committee has met multiple times to develop this proposal, using feedback from staff and parent surveys. The committee considered various factors, including instructional time for students, staff professional learning needs, and family and community priorities. The proposed calendar closely resembles this year’s schedule.

Changes to Parent-Teacher Conferences Schedule
We have made adjustments to the schedule for parent-teacher conferences in the 2025-2026 school year. Fall Conferences are scheduled for the second week of November: specifically, Tuesday, November 11th and Thursday, November 13th, from 4PM to 7PM. Additionally, Friday, November 14th, will be observed as a day off for both staff and students. Spring Conferences will continue as planned during the first full week of March: Tuesday, March 3rd and Thursday, March 5th, also from 4PM to 7PM, with Friday, March 6th, designated as another day off for staff and students.

The calendar will be presented to the Southern Boone Board of Education for approval during the Tuesday, February 18th board meeting.

If you have any feedback about the proposed district calendar, please email communications@sbschools.us.

AMI/Virtual Learning Days Update

The Southern Boone School District would like to provide an update regarding plans for the remainder of winter if inclement weather causes the school district to close. All traditional snow days included in the 2024-2025 district calendar have been utilized due to winter weather in January.

To ensure uninterrupted learning, the district has five Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) or Virtual Learning Days available for this school year. Moving forward, any additional days when school cannot be held due to inclement weather will be designated as AMI/Virtual Learning Days for students and staff. Using AMI days allows us to maintain our instructional schedule without requiring make-up days during already scheduled breaks or extending the school year.

Each school building will provide specific details about AMI Days. If you have questions related to AMI/Virtual Learning Days, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or building principal. For general inquiries, feel free to email us at communications@sbschools.us.

Information about inclement weather communication and procedures is available at sbschools.us/weather.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate the rest of the winter season.
