School Board Election Information

The next Southern Boone County R-I School District election is a school board election on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026. There are three positions available, each with a three-year term.

Four candidates have filed for the April 7th, 2026, election. The names of the candidates will appear on the ballot as follows:

Jared Vredenburg
Amy Marie Begemann
Christopher Felmlee
Karen Kraus Bill

2026-2027 School Calendar Parent/Community Survey

As we begin planning for the 2026–2027 school year, your input is essential in shaping the district calendar. Balancing instructional time for students, professional learning for staff, and the needs of our families and community is a priority, and your feedback plays a critical role in this process.

It is important to note that the 2026–2027 district calendar will be based on a five-day school week.

We invite you to complete the survey linked below to share your thoughts and preferences regarding the upcoming school calendar:

The survey will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Your input will guide the calendar committee in drafting a proposed calendar. Once a draft calendar is ready, it will be presented to the Board of Education for review during the Tuesday, January 20, 2026, board meeting and shared with parents, staff, and the community. The final version of the district calendar for the 2026–2027 school year will be presented to the Board of Education for approval during the February 17, 2026, board meeting.

 

Kindergarten Registration and Preschool Application

Kindergarten Registration Information

Kindergarten registration for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year will take place January 5th-February 27th. You may register your student(s) at the primary school at 803 S Henry Clay Blvd. in Ashland, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The student does not need to be present to register.

To be eligible for kindergarten, students must be five (5) years old prior to August 1st, 2026.

The following information will need to be documented:

Proof of residency (i.e. rental/lease agreement, utility bill, etc.). Cell phone bills and junk mail will not be accepted.
Current immunization records that meet the Missouri Department of Health guidelines
Certified copy of a birth certificate (We will make a copy and return your original)

Preschool Application Information

Students who will be four (4) years old prior to August 1, 2026, may apply to the preschool program. Students who are age-eligible for kindergarten are not eligible for pre-K.

Applications may be obtained at the Primary School office, Central office, or online starting on January 5th, 2026. Applications will be accepted beginning on January 5th, 2026. Applications for preschool must be returned by February 27, 2026.

There is a limited number of students selected for this program. Applications can be mailed or dropped off at the primary school office.

Golden Eagles Club Dinner and Program | Thursday, January 22nd

Community members are invited to attend the next Southern Boone Golden Eagles Club Dinner and Program on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Southern Boone High School Commons. The evening is sponsored by Central Bank of Boone County.

The Golden Eagles Club is open to community members ages 50 and older, along with local business leaders, and provides an opportunity to stay informed, connected, and engaged with the school district.

The evening will begin with the National Anthem performed by members of the Southern Boone High School Band, followed by dinner featuring chili and soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, salad, and dessert.

The program will include a presentation from the Middle School Junior Beta Club, an activities and athletics update from Activities Director Trent Tracy, an update from the Eagle Foundation, and a district update from Superintendent Dr. Tim Roth.

Eagle Foundation Announces 2025-2026 Fundraising Priorities to Support Southern Boone Students and Teachers

The Eagle Foundation is inviting local businesses and community members to support students, teachers and schools across the Southern Boone County R-I School District.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Eagle Foundation provides a way for individuals and businesses to make tax-deductible donations that directly benefit students and staff through scholarships, teacher appreciation efforts and classroom innovation grants.

Mission statement:
We are proud supporters of public education who turn ideas into action to provide extraordinary educational opportunities for our students and staff.

For the 2025-2026 school year, the foundation’s fundraising goal is $10,000 and includes:

Student scholarships: Helping graduating seniors pursue higher education.
Teacher appreciation events: Recognizing educators for their dedication and impact.
Teacher mini-grants ($200 each): Funding innovative classroom ideas that enhance student learning.

The Southern Boone School District encourages students, parents, and community members to use the Courage2Report (C2R) program to confidentially report any concerns related to school safety, including bullying, threats, and violence.

C2R is available 24/7 and offers multiple ways to report: by phone at 1-866-748-7047, through their mobile app, or by texting "C2R" to 738477. Reports are confidential and can make a significant difference in ensuring a safe learning environment for all.
