Students at Southern Boone High School are turning school spirit into community impact by hosting a fundraiser this week to support a new playground at Southern Boone Elementary School. The effort is part of the high school’s annual Courtwarming celebration.
Elementary school leaders estimate the cost of the new playground equipment and safety surfacing at approximately $100,000. As part of the initiative, high school students have set a combined fundraising goal of $4,000, with each grade level competing to contribute the most toward the project.
Organized by the Southern Boone High School Student Council, Courtwarming week features themed spirit days, friendly competitions, and fundraising activities, all leading up to the basketball games on Friday night and the school dance on Saturday evening.
Each grade has created its own GoFundMe page, allowing community members to support the class of their choice while contributing to a shared cause. The grade that raises the most money will earn a prize from the student council.
The winning class will be announced, and the Courtwarming King and Queen will be crowned following the boys and girls basketball game on Friday, February 13th.
